Do I Have Enough Sand?

Pavers are a popular choice for patios, walkways, and driveways, thanks to their durability, low maintenance, and aesthetic appeal. However, to ensure that they stay in place and remain level, the joints between the pavers must be filled with sand. But what is the proper level of sand that is needed in between paver joints? Contrary to popular belief, the sand does not need to be visible in the bezels between the pavers. In fact, it should be 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch below the paver bezel. The reason for this is that if the sand level is too high, it can lead to the pavers becoming loose and shifting over time. Additionally, a common mistake is to use too much sand when filling the joints, which can also cause problems. If too much sand is used, it can create an unstable base and lead to uneven settling of the pavers. This can result in the pavers sinking or becoming uneven, which can be both unsightly and hazardous. At Cushing Paver Sealing, we use specialized equipment, proper techniques, and top-quality materials to ensure that the sand between your paver joints is at the proper level.
